Yay, I finally read a book! And I mean the proper, deeply engrossed, I-won't-budge-in-an-earthquake kind of reading. And.. that felt awesome. :)
The Wheel of Time. Book 1 - The Eye Of The World. By Robert Jordan. Or James Oliver Rigney.
This book and the first book of the Foundation series used to be THE two books I never found in libraries or book stores. Then, I found The Eye Of The World on the day of the Exun Farewell (Yay). Still looking for the latter.
So. The book's a lot like LOTR. And Eragon. But the fact that it's a 14 book series is probably the reason the author creates the plot, majorly, in the first book. So it does get a little boring, but hey, I liked the ending. Made me curious enough to start on the second book (The Great Hunt). It is a lot harder to put down. Which is saying something since I'm reading it on my phone. :-/
I couldn't help remembering that Lost, too, has a "wheel of time". Though it doesn't really work on the same idea as the book series, "starting a new Age" etc. In Lost, it's literally a wheel of time. On the island.
Boo. Spoiler Alert. :P Though I'm pretty sure my blog readers ( :| I like to think I have blog readers, yes) don't plan on watching the show.
And. Hmmmm. INMO today. I didn't study squat, so I was sure that I wouldn't be able to do anything. But I almost did 3 questions, so I'm happy. :D And then I had a sub! And an iced tea. I realized that my brain actually gets heated up after math olympiads. o.O
And the song, Gin Soaked Boy (by The Divine Comedy) is really awesome. I love the lyrics!
"
I'm the ghost in the machine
I'm the genius in the gene
I'm the beauty in the beast
I'm the sunset in the east
I'm the ruby in the dust
I'm the trust in the mistrust
I'm the Trojan horse in Troy
I'm the gin in the gin-soaked boy
And now I shall go and study chemistry.
Sobhagya : Moti. It's a term of endearment, really.
^_^

10 Wisecracks:
I love The Wheel of Time. I'd begun to think I had a major reader's block the past year, except when I got back home during the winter and read the thirteenth book it was just like it used to be - non-stop reading.
Btw, "So. The book is kinda like LOTR. And Eragon is like it, but badly written."
There. Changed it for you :P
Seroiusly though, if you like fantasy and have a stomach for long series, the wheel of time is awesome. I didn't get bored even once in any of the books.
And haha, I like Gin Soaked Boy too! It's a fun song :D
seriously*
I thought there was no Exun farewell. Wasn't it your birthday?
@Sahil : Yeah, non-stop reading is so brilliant. The last time I read something like that was when I read I, Robot. It's been quite a while. :-/ And hah, I should probably make that correction =P
You've HEARD Gin Soaked Boy? Impressive! I thought it was one of _those_ bands that no one hears. Awesome :D
@Aditya : Meh. THOSE people aren't going to be reading my blog. =P
Whoa. Aditya's commenting on blogs.
He's become like a complete new media freak, hasn't he?
@Sahil: Really? You never got bored even once? o.O
I love the books and all of that, but seriously, some parts of TPoD are so BORING.
:P
I think he commented purely because I told him to read my blog. On facebook.
And if you think that writing the book as TPoD isn't a spoiler, then you're really wrong. :/
@Sakshi: Haha I have. It used to come on Vh1 all the time. And then one fine day in the winter hols I also saw it on MTV, of all channels.
@Anurag: Well as far as I remember, pretty much no. To be honest though, I've read The Path of Daggers only once and that was a couple of years ago, so I can't bet on it :P
@Sakshi: How can naming one of the books be a spoiler?
Well, Anurag didn't want to name the book over phone.
And I don't really know all the titles.
Er. :-/
Isn't it foolhardy and incorrect to call Betty Moti if you're one yourself? Oh and the excessive compliments on your hair from my side too dear. ;)
PS: Ur hair have improved a lot now though.
PPS: I didn't take the pain to read the whole thing, just felt like randomly commenting.
PPPS: 10 bucks if you can guess who I am...
@Anonymous:
No Idea.
A) I don't call her moti, she calls ME that.
B) "Compliments on your hair"? You'll have to explain that.
C) I'LL PAY YOU TEN BUCKS IF YOU TELL ME WHO YOU ARE!
D) Don't call me Moti. How Rude.
